SCY: Baby surprise
I loved the sketch now up at Sketches: Creatively Yours.
Not surprisingly, I needed to cram more photos on the layout that the sketch called for. I pulled out pics that are over 8 years old for this one. :)

Flutter by, Butterfly
A few weeks ago, we were the temporary owners of some caterpillars, then butterflies. My daughter loved every minute. This is the layout for her album about it...
I used Nikki Sivils here and also submitted it for a Scrapdango challenge.

Love Grows Here
When I saw this framed art by Sarah Eclavea, I knew I wanted to create one of my own. This is what I came up with, using canvas, paint, scrap paper, a bit of twine, and a bunch of hot glue.
Sarah is actually teaching hers as a class. You can see details here. I wish I could have made hers, but I am sewing impared!

Goddaughter
I've been creating layouts for the Scrapdango blog hop this week.
Here's the first, using pictures from my goddaughter's baptism 9 years ago (how did that pass so quickly?!?!).
I used more of Crate's Restoration line and a touch of The Girl's Paperie here.

Surly Model part 2
I don't love this layout.
At all.
Somehow, every time I play with paint, it just doesn't go as I planned.
Sigh.
I'm not an artsy girl, but please give me props for trying.
You might remember this post where I showed off pics I took of my medium DD by a brick wall. I wanted to do the same for my DS, and this is what came out. Poor guy... I'm acutally embarrased to put it in his album.
I loved the Becky Fleck sketch that I used for it, but I just can't pull of the grungy look!

Journaling Junkie: Big News Story
This fortnight's challenge at Journaling Junkie is to document a big news story that you have lived through. I chose a layout from a few years ago (like you couldn't tell that by looking at it... LOL!) about September 11, as I was a direct witness to it...
I do need to go back and do an actual layout on the day itself with more detail, as there are other things that I'm now remembering and didn't include here.
Journaling:
This trip was originally planned for September of 2001, but then the terrorist attacks of September 11 changed the baseball game that we had tickets to.
On September 11, I was working in Arlington, VA and saw the smoke from the Pentagon attack after watching the Trade Center attacks in New York on TV. Joey watched as fire and rescue vehicles made their way to the city. I spent the afternoon watching military airplanes fly cover over the city from our apartment balcony. I had to tell my dad what happened because he had been golfing that morning. I cried for a couple of years every time footage of that day was shown on TV. I really thought we were going to die that day. I think most of the country must have thought so, too, because people were so much nicer for a year or so afterwards.

More room plaques
I made two more bedroom door plaques. My youngest sister is pregnant with her 2nd child, and I wanted to make him one out of Sassafras goodies, but she won't share the name yet, and, of course, I don't have a picture to place on it, so I also made one for her oldest son so that you can tell what the end result will be. The picture on this is actually MY son because that was what I had handy, but you get the gist.
This was based off of a Sassafras sketch.

Smile plaque
As mentioned yesterday, this plaque is for my DD's BFF's 6th birthday...
I'm embarrassed to say that the plastic Easter eggs and grass haven't yet made it back to the attic, and that was how they ended up on this piece. BUT, I love the way that it looks!
I came up with the idea through this Polkadot Door inspiration challenge. I'm also linking this one up to Paper Issues.

4 Generations
I finally broke out the most recent Scrapdango kit again for this one, using a PageMaps sketch. The papers and sketch together were just calling me to use this old photo of me, my sister, my dad, my grandfather, and my great-grandfather.

SCY: Fall fun
LOVEloveLOVE the new sketch at Sketches: Creatively Yours.
I pulled out a picture that I've wanted to get done for a few years... one of my favorites ever of my son!
I also used the March 2011 kit from Scrapdango for much of the layout.

Journaling Junkie: Rules
This challenge at Journaling Junkie is all about rules... when you were a kid or the rules you have for your children now.
I chose a picture of my husband for this one and used a Scrapdango kit!
Here's my journaling:
The Rules of a Boy's Room:
*It must be blue.
*It must have sports paraphernalia.
*It's good for you.
*It must have a video game system.
*Your guess is as good as mine.
