Scrapdango July reveal

This month's Sugar kit screams Summer (and, oddly, three of my four layouts were from winter! LOL.).

I love hexagons, so I turned my double-layout into a hexagon party!

The sheet of Webster's Pages tags begged to be featured on a page, too:

On this next layout, I wanted to show how well the papers blended, so I punched ton of hearts and arranged them into large flowers.

And, this intertwined swirly line sheet made me think of stained-glass windows, which reminded me of the theater where I took my DD to see the Lion King. I used my exacto knife to carve out parts of it and placed different patterns behind each. Once that was set up, I spread crackle glaze over top to give it a fun stained glass look. I love how it turned out!

I also made two cards, and the end result reminded me of why I don't make too many cards... :( I am just NOT a card designer but am incredibly jealous of those that are! :)

Hop on over to the store on July 5th to pick up your kit!

Scrapdango Turn-The-Tables Week 1

This week at Scrapdango, the spice team gave the sugar team a couple of sketches to design a layout from.

Here is Jess':

This is Shannon's:

And, this is my take:

I used the basic design + banner from Jess and the confetti and the half-hexagon below the pic were pulled from Shannon's.

Submit your layout here by Sunday the 24th @ midnight.

Scrapdango June Reveal

This month has another amazing Sugar kit!

I finally created my son's First Eucharist layout (a year later!):
My medium DD on the first day of school this year:

Our trip to Natural Bridge last summer:

I also scrapped-up a set of mirrors that we have hanging in our home.

The only major thing that I added here were the Sassafras chipboard pieces and the bling. Be sure to stop into the store and pick up this kit starting May 5th!

Scrapdango Crowned week 2: Pageant Moms

We would be remiss to have a pageant competition and leave out those loveable, low-key pageant moms! My challenge to you is to create something for a mom in honor of Mother's Day. It can be a layout, card, or altered art. It can be made for your mom, your mother-in-law, a grandmother, a friend or sibling that is a great mom, yourself... anyone that is a mother figure. I used the May Sugar kit to create this for my mom (I just need to get a frame!) The pictures of her grandkids will go on the largest 9 circles. The three flowers at the bottom with the initials represent my sisters and I.
I was inspired by this! Entries must be posted by midnight EST Sunday, May 13th. I hope you can play along with us this week!

Scrapdango May reveal

I had been WAITING for this kit! These releases from Studio Calico and Crate Paper go so well together, I want to order another one! Be sure to mark your calendar for May 5th, when the new kits go on sale. :) So many great boy colors were in this kit. I rarely use pink in my son's book, but I like the pop that it gives this page...
I used almost every patterned paper in this layout with a picture from my parents's wedding. I was inspired by this layout from Susan Weinroth and used 30 hearts to represent their 30 years of marriage.
I wanted to feature the fab patterns again on this double layout, but there are so many awesome embellishments, that I had to work them in, too.
Lastly, I made this mini gratitude journal for my goddaughter with a Jenni Bowlin circle album. It's adorable, just like her.
Stay tuned this week for more reveals!

Scrapdango & S:CY challenge

I posted a fun challenge for the month over at Scrapdango. Ali MacDonald, of Sketches:Creatively Yours, gave us an exclusive sketch to play with!!! Woot!

Ali designs sketches for an amazingly creative team of ladies once a week. You are invited to play along at her site as often as you like (and simultaneously check many layouts off of your to-do list). I've never found a sketch of hers that I could resist!

You have all month to complete the challenge and post it to the Scrapdango message boards. Of course, you don't have to use a Scrapdango kit, but you'll receive an extra point if you do.

Here's her fabulous sketch...

...and my take on it:

Journaling: I have always been able to understand you, but at your 5-year-old appointment, Dr. Chris thought that you should receive speech to correct certain sounds that you made incorrectly: sh, th, c, k, s. You had fun with the games and "graduated" in a few months. I'm always proud at you working hard in whatever comes your way!

I used the Scrapdango March sugar kit here!

Scrapdango April Sugar kit reveal

I LOVED this kit, featuring Simple Stories Fabulous line {Available April 5th)!

I remember weaving a basket as a child, so, on this layout about my niece, I decided to give it a try with paper:

I used every bit of the yarn in the kit on this layout, and I love the effect...

On this layout, I decided to only use the journaling cards in the kit as the patterned paper. The baker's twine on the second page was the actual twine from the bakery. Love that I was able to use it!

This one was simple... I only matted the picture twice and then added in lots of embellishments.

This kit just begs for cute, springy cards to be made.

Have a lovely week, and don't forget to get your own kit on the 5th!

Before tomorrow's reveal...

I wanted to share one extra card, made with last month's Scrapdango sugar kit:

My medium DD had a tea party for her birthday last week, and these doilies were the perfect touch for the card.

March Scrapdango reveal

I'm so excited to share my Scrapdango projects with you!

I used the Sugar kit to create three layouts and an altered bulletin board. (AND, I still have paper left to work with!)
