This my last layout for S:CY. I've so enjoyed being on the DT there again. Otherwise I might not have done any scrapping at all! Please be sure to stop by to see the other artists' interpretations. This is the last sketch over there until the fall.

SCY: Wastin' Away
Have you seen Ali's new challenge at Sketches: Creatively Yours yet? You'll not want to miss participating in this one because there is a great prize to be won!
Here's my take:
Journaling: Love the beach life. Love the music. I think I'm never more relaxed than when I'm at a JB concert with a drink in my hand. Too bad you can't make a living out of it!

SCY: Happy 8th birthday!
I made this card for my medium daughter's birthday last week. Thanks, Sketches: Creatively Yours, for the inspiration!

SCY: In a Flash
Ali has a new sketch up at Sketches: Creatively Yours!
Journaling: We should call you Lightning. You finished the Short Pump Race in 3rd place out of about 100 girls your age. You are excited to do cross-country next year at school. Obviously, you are going to excel! Your time for the mile was 8:01. Go Bella!
Obviously my color inspiration was the green in the peacock. :)

SCY: Mothers Tea
Ali has a new sketch up at Sketches: Creatively Yours!
I made this layout based on a tea at my son's school last spring. It was a lovely morning!

Journaling:
You worked so hard for a month on writing stories, drawing pictures, and reading poetry to get ready for the Mother's Tea in Mrs. Carlton's 3rd grade language arts. The morning was amazing! I am so lucky to be your mom!

SCY: Mother Nature
I didn't drop off the face of the Earth, but I think my scrapping mojo did. I'm hopeful that this will kick-start it though...
I'm back on the DT at Sketches: Creatively Yours!
I'm so excited to be back with Ali. Her work is amazing, just as her personality.
Please visit to see what the other designers did when you have time!
Here is my most recent layout:
Journaling:
You slept through it all, but at 1:51pm on August 23, we had an earthquake. B was on the computer playing on the American Girl website, and Z and I were playing Brain Quest. I initially thought it was a truck or motorcycle next door or a train out back, until Z asked what that noise was. I never before imagined an earthquake as being loud, but it definitely had a dull roar to it. After I few seconds, I said, “I think it’s an earthquake,” and B screamed. I didn’t think until afterwards that we should have headed to the downstairs bathroom, but we huddled together in the living room until it passed. It probably lasted 30-40 seconds, but I was grateful once I could tell it was subsiding. Daddy was at work and went outside after the plants and shelves started shaking. I can’t imagine living somewhere that this occurs often. Ridiculously, I once said that I wished I could be in a small earthquake just to know what it felt like… I hope that’s the only one that ever finds me. While it wasn’t terrifying, it definitely disturbed the big kids because there were lots of questions for the rest of the day about how earthquakes happen. Just days after the earthquake, Hurricane Irene went through, and we lost power for almost 2 full days… played LOTS of games on Saturday, lit candles, and made shadow puppets.

Scrapdango & S:CY challenge
I posted a fun challenge for the month over at Scrapdango. Ali MacDonald, of Sketches:Creatively Yours, gave us an exclusive sketch to play with!!! Woot!
Ali designs sketches for an amazingly creative team of ladies once a week. You are invited to play along at her site as often as you like (and simultaneously check many layouts off of your to-do list). I've never found a sketch of hers that I could resist!
You have all month to complete the challenge and post it to the Scrapdango message boards. Of course, you don't have to use a Scrapdango kit, but you'll receive an extra point if you do.
Here's her fabulous sketch...

...and my take on it:

Journaling: I have always been able to understand you, but at your 5-year-old appointment, Dr. Chris thought that you should receive speech to correct certain sounds that you made incorrectly: sh, th, c, k, s. You had fun with the games and "graduated" in a few months. I'm always proud at you working hard in whatever comes your way!
I used the Scrapdango March sugar kit here!

Journaling: I so cherish spending time with you, Z... especially just the two of us. I hope you always know that you can come talk to me. You are safe. You are loved. You are awesome.

S:CY card sketch
I participated in the card sketch this month (rare for me, lately, I know!). Luckily, Valentine's Day gave me a great excuse to create some cards. :)

Sketches: Creatively Yours has a new sketch up!
Again, I didn't stray far from the sketch this time (what's up with that?!?!)...

I used up the remainder of my July Scrapdango kit on this one.
Please go see what the other designers made this time around!

SCY: 1st swim meet (part 1)
This is my first reveal for my new term at Sketches: Creatively Yours. I'm so happy to be back!
Both of my takes on this month's sketches are going to be on the big kids first day of swim team. I stayed pretty true to the sketch here...

I would love to see you play along this month!

SCY: New Reader
This picture is actually from last spring. I meant to scrap it long before now, but Ali's most recent sketch for Sketches: Creatively Yours was perfect for getting it done.

Ali has a GREAT new sketch up at Sketches: Creatively Yours... so great, that I actually did three layouts (one for each of my kids' albums) based on it.
